Rachael Dickinson is the senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist, and director of Hands On Physiotherapy, based in Wimborne, Dorset.
Rachael hasn’t always lived on the South Coast. She was born and grew up in a little village in Cheshire, gradually moving further south to study physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire.
Fortunately, Rachael was raised by extremely supportive parents who provided her with lots of opportunities and educational support, which meant that by the age of 11, she already knew that her ultimate career goal was to be a physiotherapist and to pursue a career in private practice.
With a sporty upbringing, competitive nature, and love for the outdoors, Rachael has naturally sustained a few injuries along the way. In doing so, she quickly understood and appreciated the need to recover from injury and return to an active daily life, whether that be resuming a particular sport or being able to run around with your children or just to maintain a busy lifestyle.
Her personal experience and participation in many sporting activities has helped her to identify those tight muscles, reduced joint range of movement and the effects of massage and stretches massively affect the efficiency of rehabilitation and recovery.
Having experienced the benefits of manual therapy, massage and mobilisation herself, Rachael couldn’t imagine treating her clients in any other way, infusing these techniques into every aspect of her treatment approach.
