“Why is This Happening to Me?” or “Why Am I Still Suffering With Shoulder Pain After Putting Up With It For 6 Months (Maybe More)?"
Most people think that when they get Shoulder Pain, it’s just going to go away on it’s own.
That they’ll wake up one morning and like “magic”, it’ll be as if shoulder pain never happened… But then 6 months later you’re still living with shoulder pain – often even worse than it was when it came on.
what can cause Shoulder pain?
For many people, these problematic muscles are often the rotator cuff muscles – the 4 muscles that surround the shoulder that help keep the shoulder joint securely located in its correct place when training at the gym, for example.
Shoulder injuries can sometimes be caused by traumatic injury, for example, falling off a bike or a skiing injury. They can often be caused by simple activities such as overstretching when reaching overhead, strenuous exercise that places undue stress on the shoulder area, or even when lifting heavy objects without proper technique.
Common shoulder issues include, for example, rotator cuff tears, strains, shoulder impingement and frozen shoulder, which refers to a stiff and inflamed shoulder for an extended period of time that does not go away. Additionally, we see many suffering with tendonitis, which is the inflammation of tendons due to it being attached to a tight overloaded muscle, or after an injury. Bursitis is the inflammation of the bursa which cushions the joints in the shoulder, and is also commonly seen in not just the sporting athlete but also the gardening enthusiast.

Why Is physiotherapy Beneficial For My Shoulder pain Even If I currently Feel Fine?
You don’t need to be injured or in pain for physio to be beneficial. It is not always noticeable when your shoulder starts to get tight, stiff and sore. Monthly physiotherapy sessions can help maintain optimum function in the shoulder and prevent problems occurring.
Often people come to us after exercise to relieve shoulder tightness and optimise muscle function.
Alternatively, treatment before intense sporting activities or before returning to sport that involves heavy use of the shoulder will reduce the risk of injury.
